Huw Sherlock

Huw is a professional archaeologist with 38 years archaeological experience in the UK, Italy and Turkey. He first started in the profession as a site assistant on excavations in Hereford in May 1986. He has been employed in archaeological Team Leading, Project Management and Lead Consultant roles for 20 years and has an excellent knowledge of developer funded archaeology in the UK from both the contracting, curatorial and consultancy perspectives.

Huw is used to working with a high degree of autonomy in constant collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team. He has a broad portfolio of skills including HEA/EIA work, building recording, evaluation, excavation and post excavation work. He also has highly developed negotiation skills and good at team building, collaborative working and delegation of responsibilities. He has a friendly, outgoing approach and enjoy meeting clients and helping them  establish what their needs and aspirations are.

He has a particular interest and specialisms in urban medieval archaeology, landscape archaeology, industrial archaeology and standing building recording. Huw also enjoys organising volunteer participation in archaeology, collaboration with third sector voluntary organisations and social prescribers.
