12 Prospect Place, Hastings
Project Outline
Built over 1852-73, the site is not statutorily listed but located within the Hastings Town Centre Conservation Area, designated in 1996.
Proposals were submitted on 2nd May 2024 and, whilst seeking to address both internal and external deterioration, comprised general refurbishment; an upward extension; and further internal alterations to provide a more practical and therefore habitable living space.
Non-functioning features including a chimney and part of a wall were proposed to be removed to enhance the use and associated flow of internal spaces, whilst the intended extension was to provide space for a new first floor bedroom.
Whilst capitalising upon the topography of the site to remain fundamentally subservient and therefore respectful and sympathetic to the host structure and its environs, the extension assumes a contemporary form in order to allow a clear and authentic legibility of phasing.
