Mark co-founded WS Heritage with WS Planning & Architecture in 2023. This followed ten years in practice overseeing The Heritage Advisory, an independent historic environment consultancy working throughout the UK.
Achieving a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in the History of Architecture and Design in 2001, he went on to obtain a Master of Arts in Architectural Conservation in 2004. 2020 saw him obtain a further postgraduate certificate in the Classical Mediterranean.
His career began with Coventry Archaeology in 2000, where he worked on excavations of Coventry’s first Cathedral and the Priory of St. Mary in Coventry city centre. In 2002, he moved to Boston Borough Council as Planning Officer (Conservation).
In 2004, he went on to join planning consultancy CgMs in their London office, working UK wide as an Historic Buildings Consultant. 2006 saw Mark become Senior Conservation Officer at Tynedale Council, before joining Rolfe Judd Architecture and Planning as Senior Built Heritage Advisor in 2007.
He then set up New Historic Environment Consulting in the same year, a heritage consultancy operating across the UK until 2010. Following this, he joined Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA) as Regional Project Manager in London and the south of England before being promoted to Lead Consultant (Built Heritage) at MOLA in September 2012.
Mark now has over twenty years’ experience of built heritage, conservation, design and archaeology, working on a high number of proposals, involving a wide variety of historic buildings, areas and other heritage asset, throughout the UK.

He is a full member of the IHBC (Institute of Historic Building Conservation).
